Costumes From The 50s – Grease Costumes
Remember your favourite greasers or wish to get out and where a fave poodle skirt then Grease costumes are a sensible choice. Grease was picture and still is today. For those female fans you can get along with some chums and be the pink women for an evening or put on a poodle skirt and wear a ponytail.
Grease was all about the mixture of the good and not so good. The good girls would wear the poodle skirts and sweaters while the not so good girls had tighter clothing and leather. The personality of Sandy wore a poodle skirt in a lot of the flick. You may have this costume by wearing a poodle skirt, ankle socks, and sweater set.
Then there’s also the preferred costume that Sandy wore at the end of the flick. I’m describing the tight black leather pants, tight black off the shoulder tee shirt, high heels, gigantic poufy hair and red lips. For those desiring to tug this off a wig could be a great choice if you are not blond. If you’re going out and it’s a bit cold then add a black leather jacket to your costume.
Besides Sandy you can get dressed up as any one of the other pink women. For a particularly pink costume go as Frenchy. Ensure you have bright pink hair, a pink skirt and shirt and a pink women jacket. Rizzo has a tendency to wear black and show plenty of leg. You’ll find wigs for any of your favorite grease characters.
For men the greaser costume is always a classic. Just wear your jeans, a white t-shirt, leather jacket and slick your hair back. If you have long enough hair you may even try and style your hair into a forward curl like Danny from Grease.
There are different men’s costumes from grease as you may be a jock from highschool. This suggests having the lettered jacket or sweater. You might also get dressed up as the nerdy Eugene from Grease with high waist pants, button down shirt, thick glasses and a pocket protector.
If you would like to dress up more or are going to a complex dress but still need to be a Grease personality then find dresses form that age and go as the characters when they were at the dance off. These dresses still have the full skirts from the 50s but are a good way to dress up. You must go shopping at vintage stores or find a stitching pattern and make your own.
Many costumes stores have Grease costumes available for sale. You’ll be able to find your fave Grease characters or more common costumes form that period of time. You may find elements for your own Grease costume if you have some pieces but not a total costume.
Additionally Grease costumes can be really easy to make on your own. You must raid the old garments in the attic or talk to a few of your family. If you are unable to find the pieces then you can simply sew a poodle skirt. You also should look at thrift stores and other places that have period clothing.
